Pump casing


The multitude of potential composite structures have geometries that can only be produced by tailored textile methods and materials. A typical example is a pump casing. This component is loaded by a high inner pressure.


The wall with a 0°/90°-structure needs to be reinforced in a ratio of 1:2. This structure is produced by a combination of the winding technology and the TFP-method. With the TFP-technique the quasi-isotropic bottom, the 0°-reinforcement of the wall and the radial/tangential reinforcement of the flange are laid up in a 2D preform. Then the bottom is deep drawn to form the 3D shape of the pump casing. This results in the continuous flow of the fibres. The TFP-structure is completed by the 90°-winding in the area of the wall.
