Objective:
The aim was a 50 % weight reduction compared to the original metal component while retaining the mechanical properties.
Solution:
By means of the TFP-technique, a preform was developed and produced. As a result it is possible to place each strut of the frame without the punching or cutting out of joining holes. The preform was impregnated with the RTM-method after inlaying the inserts. The component is designed for tension at the cross-struts and has a weight of only 110 g.
